“It is with great sadness that Ewhurst Parish Council has learned of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. I know everyone in Ewhurst Parish would join me in extending our sincere condolences to the whole Royal Family at this very sad time.” David Young, Chairman, Ewhurst Parish Council

As a mark of respect the Union Flag will be flown at half-mast at the Staplecross War Memorial for the duration of the national mourning period. They will be raised for the proclamation of the new monarch and then lowered again in line with national protocol.

A Book of Condolence for Her Majesty has been placed at St James the Great Church for residents to sign. We hope many residents will write their messages in book at the Church. The Royal Family have also set up an online Book of Condolence for the Queen at https://www.royal.uk/send-message-condolence. The Parish Council would like to thank the Church for organising the Book of Condolence.

Flowers can be laid at the war memorial on and near Her Majesty’s Jubilee bench in Staplecross for those residents wishing to lay flowers in honor of Her Majesty.

Resident Questionnaire 2022

The EPC Residents Questionnaire is your opportunity to tell us the things that are important to you.  The answers we receive will allow us to prioritise our spending and produce a budget in line with your needs over 4 years rather than spending money on the things we think you would like us to deliver.

Tree works at the herdman in ewhurst

Works are being carried out up at the Herdman Pavilion to remove a number of trees deemed as dangerous. The Parish Council is committed to protecting its arboricultural assets through the positive management of trees on land owned and managed by the Parish Council. The Parish Council now arranges regular tree surveys resulting in the identification of trees that require arboricultural work and those requiring felling. Ewhurst Parish Council has a duty of care to manage its trees and that duty is governed primarily by factors affecting the safety of the public and property, the health of the tree and the risk of the spread of diseases. By having a regular report and continued maintenance of the trees it is hoped to minimise the requirement of any tree removal. The Parish Council has adopted a Tree Policy and supported a recent Tree Report from the Proper Officer.

staplecross playground refurbishment

The Parish Council has started the refurbishment of the playground area in Staplecross. Phase one has seen the installation of a new climbing frame paid for by Ewhurst Parish Council. Once the turf has taken plastic grass matting will be laid and then the equipment will be open for the public to use.

Phase two has see the removal of the old swing frames and seesaw. These have been replaced with a new set of toddler swings, a toddler climbing and play unit and a trampoline square.

Phase three will look at the additional needs and requirements of older children in the parish. The Parish Council will be looking to consult with the community for feedback on how we can further improve these facilities.
